…is one of mine and Laura’s favourite eating times and perfect on weekends when we want a lie in but don’t want to sacrifice our day and eat a late lunch, ideal when we want to explore. Jersey has some fantastic options when it comes to this late 19th century eating time and one of our favourite weekend spots for a more ‘special’ dining experience, Ormer, has recently introduced their new Saturday Brunch menu which we couldn’t resist.
The menu available on Saturday’s only as the name suggests and rotates regularly with some staple choices like waffles and pancakes always on offer. The lunch-style dishes are what tend to change depending on what fresh ingredients the kitchen can get hold of to keep things intriguing on every visit. Suzi one of the friendly staff members guided us through the menu and explained that if something is missing that we may have seen before to mention it when ordering, they will always try and accommodate for this in the kitchen. If there is something more specific then booking beforehand and letting them know over the phone is preferable.
For our first Ormer brunch experience, we decided to go classic and adventurous. Laura had the Salvadoran pork and chorizo pupusas, these are corn tortillas stuffed with the meaty filling and worth a try for something non-traditional. I opted for eggs benedict, a brunch favourite of mine and it did not disappoint. The hollandaise sauce was just the right texture and the yolk runny in the middle oozing out once cut in to, a winning combination.
We are both looking forward to our next brunch at Ormer which happens to coincide with my birthday weekend which Laura has kindly organised, what more of an excuse do you need really. The Ormer Brunch menu is available every Saturday 10:30
