Skipton Open Studios produced by ArtHouse Jersey and sponsored by Skipton International. The bi-annual event sees local artists open up their creative spaces to the public as well as hosting ‘pop-up’ style events set out over two weekends:
Sat 23rd June – Sun 24th June, 10 am – 5 pm
Sat 30th June – Sun 1st July, 10 am – 5 pm
Aswell as a plethora of free experiences there are also some workshops and events of varying costs that have peaked my interest. Here are my top picks and what to expect from Skipton Open Studios 2018.
Piquet House Takeover
A previous States of Jersey police station is being taken over by ArtHouse Jersey. Piquet house will not only be the main information point but will also play venue to some of the pop-up style experiences. Think artists’ pop-up open studios, workshops and art installations.
It will be free for the public to visit between Saturday 23 June – Sunday 01 July, open daily between 10 am – 5 pm. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
I’m most looking forward to:
Who Am I?
Catching my attention first is Who Am I, an evolving art installation curated by Sarah Taylor we can all get involved in. Within us exist worlds often unseen by those around us… worlds of emotions, dreams, experiences and stories, all woven together into a unique tapestry. This free drop-in experience invites you to create a collage of who you truly are, from the inside out.

The Mural Project Part 3
Local graffiti artist Ben Robertson (aka Bokra) is taking his mural project once again to the streets of St. Helier. 10 Jersey artists will bring life back to and reflect the creative spirit that lies in abundance in Jersey. A new digital map of Jersey’s street art will be available to download to help you to seek out these artworks on a self-guided walk.
Food Is Art Pop Up
This event is the most luxury aspect of Skipton Open Studios. With food create by Nourish paired with wines from Love Wine, guests will meet around a communal table to enjoy the bounty which our island has to offer. I love the element of mystery ArtHouse have kept around this experimental, multi-course supper. The evening will be just as much about the presentation of the food as it will the taste. With limited space be sure to sign up to this one of a kind experience. Excite your palate and amuse your mind. Thursday 26th June 7.30-10.00pm Book HERE
Drink and Draw
Abi Overland is as lovely as she is talented. Partnering with Project 52, Abi will be encouraging both seasoned artists and drawing virgins alike to relax, get creative and enjoy a tipple will your at it. Friday 29th June 7 pm (sold out)
