Tomorrow marks the start of my 24th year so I thought I’d share with you some things I’ve learnt in the last 23 years.

  1. Not everyone has their life together yet. (ok some people do but you certainly don’t have to and that’s definitely ok).
  2. If you get up early, you are actually more productive even if you feel like you’re never going to be a morning person and you’re half asleep whilst doing sed productive things.
  3. You still feel like you’re never going to be a morning person.
  4. The gym is not the scariest place on earth, it’s not your favourite place either and you should probably go their more often, but it’s not the dreadful place you always thought it was.
  5. Paris is a magical place, anyone who thinks it’s cliche or overrated isn’t doing it right. It is magical.
  6. Clearing out your belongings and throwing out things you don’t need is really important.
  7. You shouldn’t only clear out your stuff when you’re moving house, it needs to be done slightly more frequently!
  8. You shouldn’t focus on how well everyone around you is doing. whether your friends are getting promotions, having babies or getting married you’re on your own path, do what feels right for you.
  9. You will have friends who are married and friends who have children.
  10. When your girlfriends get married and their surname changes, it will take you a while to get used to that. You change it in your phonebook – which helps, but you will still call them by their previous name.
  11. You will become more and more interested in interiors.
  12. You find yourself trying to find the best prints for your walls or the perfect house plant.
  13. You realise happiness is a state of mind and you are in control of your own.
  14. You realise you enjoy things you never thought you could enjoy… like camping.
  15. You like trying new things and going to new places.
  16. Although you feel like you always eat at the same locations.
  17. It takes a while to find a routine in anything (daily, morning, skincare etc) but when you do find one that works for you, you’ll feel more relaxed and that little bit more grown up.
  18. As difficult as it might feel at the time, getting toxic people out of your life or distancing yourself from them will benefit you in the long run.
  19. You will have less friends as you get older, something that might have worried you when you were younger or you wouldn’t have thought possible. But the friends you still have will be the best friends you could ever need.
  20. Some friends will move away, or you will move away and you won’t be able to see each other as much as you’d like but when you do see each other it will feel so easy, so natural and as if no time has past.
  21. You realise that it’s true when people say travel is the only thing that makes you richer.
  22. There are so many places you want to visit, and so little time to do it = plenty of time so little monies saved.
  23. Not everyone is going to like you no matter how great you are, so don’t try to please everyone.
